Our Project Experience.

Nonprofit - Ohio
Trauma Survivor Shelter and Advocacy Services

A nonprofit serving survivors of family trauma and violence with an annual budget of about $2MM annually.  This agency receives private, county, state and federal grants and funding.  Our team participates in applying for, reporting on and maintaining agency compliance with around fifteen grants annually for this agency along with being responsible for all bookkeeping and financial reporting functions including Accounts Payable and payroll.  The agency currently uses QuickBooks Online, a platform that Catalyst implemented when migrating from QuickBooks Nonprofit Edition, and Peachtree accounting before.  Members of the Catalyst team attend partner and funding meetings, and board and committee meetings on behalf of the organization.  Other members of the team work closely with the Director of Development to ensure fundraising and donor tracking and reporting through the use of “Network for Good (Bonterra)”.  Catalyst facilitated the implementation of Network for Good when the agency decided to move away from Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge a few years ago.

A privately owned, second generation owned manufacturing company using Great Plains for inventory management, accounting and bookkeeping.  This project includes on-call support for data anomolies, transactional support, and data- base maintenance tasks.​

Tech Start-up - Colorado
Medical Device/Software

A recent spin-off of a large "household name" tech firm,  doing business internationally, creating medical devices and software for remote diagnosis by health practitioners.  Our team has worked to establish accounting practices, processes and internal controls cooperatively with their team and existing software using QuickBooks Online and multiple API's for Gusto Payroll Mangement, Bill.com, and Avalara Tax services to meet requirements of their investor firms and independent auditors.  All functions of monthly bookkeeping, reconciliations, adjustments and financial statement preparation are included.

Printing Service - Ohio
Privately Owned

A privately owned printing company using Great Plains for accounting and bookkeeping.  This project involved improving the system financial reporting, as well as new sales reporting.  Catalyst team members worked with the management team to understand the sales reporting needs and then developed the reports using the Great Plains system.​

Manufacturing - Ohio
Privately Owned

A privately owned manufacturing operation doing about $15MM in annual sales.  Our team was initially brought in to do consulting work on their manufacturing and accounting ERP (Infor), writing custom reports and SQL Queries.  Their business fell upon the immediate need for accounting support, and our team dove into that role until a new, full-time staff member could be hired, performing all accounting functions including A/R, A/P, Payroll, and month-end close with financial reporting.  This organization managed certain long-term, consigned, and customer-owned inventory, which our team participated in monitoring and reporting.

Nonprofit - Ohio
Education/Research/Testing

A large nonprofit associated with The Ohio State University providing services to the automotive industry.  Initially contracted to provide consulting around an unsuccessful ERP implementation of Epicor, this project grew into a long-term engagement where a Catalyst team member took on the interim CFO role, saw the organization through two independent financial audits, supported large construction projects with grant work, project planning and documentation and supported all typical finance and administrative activities working closely with fellow executive team members and OSU stakeholders.

Health Care - Ohio
Dental - Private Practice

Private dental practices ranging from one to three doctors outsourced aspects of their business team needs.  Each practice received individualized services including patient ledger accounting, claims processing, patient insurance verification, credentialing, forensic accounting, and financial accounting and reporting. In some cases, these services were needed while a staff member was out on extended leave, while in other cases the services were for a contracted period of time or with a particular goal in mind.  These practices used various practice management software programs including EagleSoft, Dentrix, SoftDent, and EZ Dental.  Our teams have also provided one-on-one training and/or group training on practice management software and conducted process improvement workshops with private practice business teams.

A brand-new nonprofit in 2023, Catalyst assisted the board of directors in starting the organization, originally with administrative work to register with the state and IRS, then to establish certain vendor resources such as Microsoft nonprofit licensing, to establish a banking relationship and to obtain business insurance.  Long term, this client desires to work with Catalyst using QuickBooks Online in cooperation with their operational software to achieve monthly financial reporting and internal controls.​

Food Service - Ohio
Retail/Restaurant Chain

A chain of eight retail restaurant storefronts offering a take-out and delivery menu of American and Mediterranean food with employed kitchen, counter, call center, and delivery drivers.  Our team provided monthly accounting services.  The client’s internal staff entered vendor invoices and issued A/P checks, processed bill payments, and processed payroll.  Our team reconciled bank, credit card, and other balance sheet accounts including store inventories working with operational management.  We provided various month end operational and financial reports.  Within this project, our team supported the company in reporting to investors and pursuing new financing while working directly with the company President.  This company relied upon various software resources including merchant processing software and Compeat Restaurant Management System.

Animal Shelter/Adoption

A nonprofit animal shelter and adoption center in a large metropolitan area going through radical growth, including a large capital project and relocation. Catalyst was engaged to bring accounting systems efficiency and performs all bookkeeping, reconciliations, monthly financial statement preparation and analysis along with annual audit preparation and budgeting.
